Yes, to fully use WeDress you need a customer account.
Please follow the steps below and you are ready to go:
- Go to 'Sign Up' in the right corner of our homepage and then click on the "Register" box.
- Open our confirmation email and click the link to successfully complete your registration.
- Log in with your email address.
- Complete your profile by adding a profile picture and adding some information about yourself (this will look trustworthy to the community), and you're ready to go.
You are now officially a WeDress member! You can now add items to your virtual closet, create favourites, and search the platform for your dream piece.
One of the advantages of WeDress is the possibility to contact other members directly. We recommend that all communication is done through the platform. This is how you can message other WeDress members directly:
You can find all messages in your DASHBOARD > Messages. Communication through WeDress is important because it provides a record and overview of the (rental) process. If something goes wrong, the WeDress team can help you by referring to the conversation on the platform.
After each order, you will be asked to leave a review. Great reviews show that you are a trustworthy member of the WeDress community and should help you increase your rental rate. Look at the reviews at your leisure and don't forget to leave a short feedback after each transaction.
As with other community platforms, the rating function on WeDress is one of the essential tools to ensure trust and security. Thank you for helping us with this.
Publishing your articles is completely free! Joining WeDress is also free; there are no membership fees or monthly charges. We work on a commission basis, so we only make money when you make money.
We automatically deduct our commission of 25% of the rental price from each order and 50% in the case of concierge items. This helps cover payment processing, quality assurance, hosting and other services to keep WeDress running smoothly.
The lender is responsible for ensuring that each item is clean and lent as specified in the description. Clean your clothes as usual with clothes detergent, soap or take them to the dry cleaner. We ask that you use environmentally friendly detergents or dry cleaners.
Basically, the ways of delivery are up to you: Either personally at a public place (personal pickup) or by mail (including tracking).
Within your city: For environmental reasons, we recommend personal delivery. In case you're in a hurry, DHL Go Green or a similar service should also be available.
Shipping Same Country: We recommend shipping with DHL Go Green. The delivery of the item is paid by the renter via WeDress and the return is paid by the renter directly to the shipping service provider. The parcel shipment must be insured and with tracking for both ways. The item should arrive to the renter at least 1 day before the start of the rental period and return 1 day after the end of the rental period.
We recommend booking with a minimum of one week in advance
EU- Cross Country: We recommend shipping with DHL Go Green. The item is shipped by the lender and the delivery of the item is paid by the renter via WeDress and the return is paid by the renter directly to the shipping service provider. The parcel shipment must be insured and with tracking for both ways. The item should arrive to the renter at least 1 day before the start of the rental period and return 1 day after the end of the rental period. We recommend booking a minimum of one week and a half in advance. For other WeDressers, your item will be blocked 3 days prior to and 3 days after the rental period. Return shipping is the responsibility of the renter and will be paid directly upon return and not through the lender - the renter must also choose a shipping method with insurance and tracking, shared via WeDress chat.
The shipping costs will be refunded to you with the payment of the rental price, as you are used to.
It is important to choose an insured shipping method with tracking because it offers more security to all of us.

In-person delivery: free
Shipping via mail: delivery is paid by the renter during check-out, and return is paid by the renter directly to the shipping service provider.
Please always choose a shipping method with a tracking number to be informed about the whereabouts of the garment and to avoid conflicts.
No! You can rent any item from our platform.
Still, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We want to create incentives to reduce transportation and the associated negative impact on the environment and to connect the community. That's why we encourage you to rent items from your own city.
If the item you love is not near you, don’t worry, you can have it delivered to your door anywhere in the EU using the Shipping Method.
To ensure that every item available at WeDress is of the highest quality and meets our standards, our team checks every item before it is published. We would like to point out that the quality check can take up to 24 hours in individual cases. If a garment ever fails to meet our quality criteria, we will contact you with helpful tips to make the publication possible. This way we ensure that every WeDresser can enjoy the best WeDress experience and we can keep the quality of the platform high. Please contribute to this as well! Please check out our helpful tips.
In order to join the WeDress community and borrow and lend items on WeDress, you must first accept our Terms and Conditions.
These terms and conditions serve to protect WeDress members and are intended to strengthen trust in the platform. Here we also explicitly point out that WeDress acts exclusively as the operator of the platform and no contractual relationship with WeDress is established.
We recommend shipping with DHL Go Green. Of course, you can choose the delivery service yourself. With the delivery option parcel shipping, you as the renter will be charged with a shipping fee, which the lender has determined in advance. The shipment is insured and with tracking.
Please be aware of the current situation where you are and act according to the regulations currently in place.
We have reviewed the latest research on COVID-19 and there is currently no evidence that it can be transmitted to humans from textile surfaces such as clothing.
Based on this, we make the following recommendations:
Shipping and Handover: Handovers in a public place (outdoors) are still possible with compliance with applicable regulations. Please wear an FFP2 mask for handover and social distance. We also recommend performing a rapid test before the handover.
In Vienna and Berlin (inner-city districts) you can of course also use the delivery by bicycle courier. Here, too, the appropriate safety precautions must be observed.
If you are tested positive for COVID-19 during an ongoing or upcoming rental period, we ask you to inform us and the user involved immediately about this circumstance. You will then receive appropriate information from us on how to proceed.
Latest recommendations for the cleaning of objects:
Basically, there are no recommendations for special cleaning of clothing to prevent transmission of COVID-19. Clean your clothes as usual with detergent, soap, or take them to the dry cleaner. We advise both parties to wash non-chemically cleaned items with the warmest water setting appropriate for the items and to dry the items completely before the rental begins.
For lenders: Please ensure, as usual, that your item arrives cleaned to the lender.
Please also check your spam folder, sometimes emails end up there. To rent and lend on WeDress Collective you need to confirm your email address. In case you’re still having trouble receiving the confirmation email, please contact our customer service.
We took the time to get feedback from you on how we can make your WeDress experience more complete. As you know, we've started our service in Austria and Germany, but according to our user survey, it would multiply the choice for renters and of course, increase the earnings for lenders.
We take your wishes to heart and since February 23rd you can lend and rent EU-wide by simply choosing our International Shipping Method at check-out.

Basically, shipping (e.g. via mail) is not included. However, the lender has the option to choose their own shipping and delivery options and can therefore also provide free or reduced shipping.
Our terms of use state that the lender must ensure that the garment arrives at least one day before the start of the rental period. A special rule concerns the rental starting on Monday, here the item should arrive already on Saturday (unless you agree on a personal handover).
The lender should calculate the delivery time necessary for national and international deliveries and share the tracking link via WeDress chat as soon as the item is shipped.
If a delay is caused by a logistics service provider, such as the post office, you can ask the lender if they would kindly extend your rental period by the number of days it got delayed.
Please go to your messages and click on "Report problem". It is best to document the defects directly and also contact the lender. The best is to think together on what is the best solution for you. Of course, we will support you in the process as usual - as a rule, a solution can always be found.
Please ask the lender about the exact fit of the item before placing your order if you are ever unsure.
Tips from our founder Jasmin: As a longtime online second-hand shopper, I know how frustrating it can be to look forward to a beautiful piece and then it doesn't fit. To avoid this feeling, when in doubt, I ask you to ask the lender for more photos or information. Also taking a look into the closet of the user can be very helpful to you to facilitate an assessment.
If an item does not fit despite these tips, you bear this risk yourself. However, we want to create a community that supports each other - so we will offer you a 30% discount on your next rental.
WeDress works on a daily basis, i.e. you can rent any item per day and basically as long as you want or availability allows.
To be gentle to the environment and make it worth your time and efforts, we've adjusted the minimum rental period for cross-country rentals to 4 day.
Please ask the lender if you can get a special price or discount for a longer rental period, e.g. week or month.
The minimum lending period is indicated in the item overview and is determined by the lending person. We recommend at least 2-3 days for smooth processing.
In principle, the clothing must be returned the day after the end of the loan period. If you wish to extend the rental period, please contact the lender directly.
The rental price plus cleaning and shipping costs is due for payment immediately upon conclusion of the rental contract (booking confirmation). The payment of the rental price is thus made in advance.
Lend
Lending is very simple. Click on the button "Lend item" in the upper right corner and you are already in our input mask. Now enter all the information and that's it.

The payment to you will be released after the expiration of the rental period by our payment service provider MANGOPAY, i.e. as soon as the item is returned to you (in the agreed condition) and you have confirmed this. Please enter your bank details here and let us know where we can pay out your earnings. To keep a high security standard on our platform, we ask you to upload a copy of your photo ID (proof of identity) here to verify your identity. Please note that our payment partner Mangopay will not be able to process your payment without your ID upload.
Depending on your bank provider, you should receive your payment within 4-5 business days.
You can specify exactly which cleaning option you would like to choose when uploading your garment. Basically, you as the lender are responsible for performing the cleaning.
Please make sure that the booked item is cleaned and in the specified condition when it reaches the renter one day before the rental period starts. I.e. If the rental period starts on Tuesday, the item should be received or handed over to the renter on Monday. The item will be returned one day after the last day of the rental period.
Our community is based on trust and you can be sure that your items will be handled very carefully.
All transactions handled by WeDress are covered during the rental period, i.e. the person that made the damage is responsible for the damage or loss (e.g. extra cleaning costs, repair or replacement of the item at market price). In Germany, it is also possible to include items on rent in liability insurance.
If something happens to the item during the rental period, we ask you to inform us immediately and make a damage report. We will of course support you in communication and mediation and make sure that everything goes smoothly.
In order to avoid any conflicts and make sure everything goes smoothly, we ask you to do the following:
Take a few photos of the item's condition before shipping or handing it over, as well as before returning it.

Each lender is responsible for setting the rental price per day.
In the "Lend item" screen, after entering the original price (new price), we recommend a rental price per day of about 3% of the original price.
Top tip: Look at similar offers and set your prices a little lower to stay competitive. You can always edit the price, for example, if you want to give seasonal discounts.
Our commission is 25% of your earnings (including shipping and cleaning costs) and 50% for Concierge items.
Our members prefer impeccably presented images - the more professional the entry looks, the more likely it is to be borrowed - naturally!
Top tips for taking the perfect photo:
- Use a white background to make the item stand out, and photograph it from different angles
- Only show the item you want to feature
- Have cool Instagram or Pinterest images where you're featuring the item, use those
- Avoid screenshots - after all, we want to get a really clear picture of the item
- Note: WeDress reserves the right to remove the background of selected photos or modify the images at our discretion. We will help you to market the article better and generate higher revenue.

Anyone can upload their clothes - we also want to offer access to commercial suppliers. If you have a second-hand store, for example, you should mark your profile accordingly.Items that are needed for special occasions (such as weddings or graduations) are especially suitable for renting. However, with WeDress we also want to highlight high-quality (designer) clothing for everyday wear.
Here we have summarized a few DONT’S that are not accepted on WeDress:
- Fast fashion brands (including Primark, Tally Weil, H&M (excl. designer editions), Bershka) are not accepted. The materials used to make these pieces are not designed to last. They are prone to cracking and lose their shape quickly - they are often unsuitable to be shared multiple times and are also not suitable from an economic perspective (low original price).
- Everyday items, such as plain t-shirts, plain jeans, etc. are also not accepted. It is unlikely that these will be lent.
- Fakes, please do not upload fake items.
- EUR 150+ retail price (purchase price)
- < 2 years old or True Vintage
- Very good to max good condition (defects must ALWAYS be described and photographed).
- Trendy styles and brands, like (designer) goods from Versace, Gucci, Reformation or Ganni and many more.
Before you rent the item, take a few photos with your smartphone to prove the condition of the item you are sending (within 24 hours before the rental starts).
When you get the item back, repeat the process within 24 hours.
Taking photos with your smartphone will automatically date stamp the time the photo was taken, just in case there are any questions about the condition of the item.
Of course you can! You have 48 hours after receiving the booking to reject it, free of charge. To do so, go to your orders and click on the button "Reject order".
After this period, the WeDress service fee will be charged in case of a cancellation.
As with other popular sharing platforms, the recipient pays for shipping. Personal shipping is free and shipping by mail already has a flat rate of 6€. However, please find out in advance how much shipping by mail will cost and adjust the cost accordingly.
Please always choose a shipping method with tracking, this creates more security.
